Missiles hit Israeli cities this morning.
180 people injured. Families shaken. The air defenses that were supposed to hold? They didn’t.
Presidents are talking. Markets are moving. Another day.
But if you think this is just geopolitics, just ideology, just flesh and blood, you’re missing the real story.
The Deeper War
Ephesians 6:12 is where I always land when the news breaks hard:
“We do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness.”
The missiles that fell today weren’t just launched by a regime. They were an offering. Fear, chaos, and death are the feast of powers that have been at war with the image of God in us since before Israel was a nation.
Deuteronomy 32 tells us why the Middle East has always been a flashpoint. When God divided the nations at Babel, He allotted them to lesser divine beings. Yahweh kept Israel as His own inheritance. Which means that land has been contested territory in the cosmic war since the beginning. Not just in the newspapers. In the heavenly places.
Psalm 82 shows God standing in the divine council, indicting those rulers: “How long will you judge unjustly?” Their disorder in the heavens shows up as chaos on the earth. Every time.
This is not abstract theology. This is why peace in that region is so hard. The powers don’t want it.
But Here’s What They’re Afraid Of
Colossians 2:15 says Jesus “disarmed the powers and authorities, he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them.”
Past tense.
The decisive battle is done. The powers are defeated, not yet fully removed, but stripped of final authority. Every missile, every news cycle, every moment of geopolitical terror is the last thrashing of rulers who already know their verdict.
The Great Commission isn’t just personal evangelism. It is cosmic reclamation. Every nation that was handed off to the powers at Babel is being called back to Yahweh through the Gospel. Every person who bends the knee to Jesus is a piece of territory recovered.
That’s what they’re trying to stop. And they can’t.
Do Something
- Pray for the people of Israel and Iran. Both. People on every side are image bearers of God caught in a war bigger than they know.
- Remember the real enemy. It isn’t Iran. It isn’t Israel. It isn’t any political faction. The powers are the enemy, and Jesus has already crushed them.
- Don’t feed the fear. The chaos is designed to produce anxiety, division, and despair. Refuse it.
- Proclaim the Gospel. Not as a comfort measure. As a war cry. Every soul that comes to Jesus is a nation reclaimed.
The empty tomb still thunders over every throne, dominion, and ruler.
It is finished.
