Day 23 He’ll Go That Far
Luke 15:4 “What man of you, having a hundred sheep, if he has lost one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the open country, and go after the one that is lost, until he finds it?”
Let’s get this straight–
Jesus isn’t waiting for you to get it together.
He’s not pacing in heaven hoping you’ll crawl back with a better performance this time.
He’s the kind of Shepherd who goes looking.
And when He finds you—He doesn’t scold, sigh, or fold His arms.
He rejoices.
Yes, that’s right. He throws you on His shoulders like a trophy and says,
“This one? This wreck of a sheep? Yeah, I went after them. And I’d do it again.”
God isn’t like us.
We cut people off.
We give up.
We keep a tally of who’s worth the trouble.
He doesn’t.
He will chase the one.
And not because the one cleaned up their act.
But because that’s who He is.
This is a God who crossed galaxies, entered a womb, lived a spotless life among sinners who couldn’t understand Him—and then willingly gave Himself up to die at their hands.
You think He’s intimidated by your mess?
You think He’s waiting for you to crawl back ashamed and sorry and “better”?
Please.
The cross already took care of your worst.
There’s nothing left to prove.
This story isn’t about a sensible shepherd.
It’s about a scandalous one.
• He doesn’t count risk like us.
• He doesn’t pause to ask if you’re worth it.
• He doesn’t say, “Let’s see how long you stay faithful this time.”
He leaves the ninety-nine again and again and again.
Because grace doesn’t make sense—it makes people whole.
You may feel like the sheep that deserves to be forgotten.
Good.
You’re exactly the one He came for.
He didn’t come for the strong, the shiny, or the self-sufficient.
He came for the lost, the limping, and the disqualified.
In other words—us.
Do Something
You don’t need to clean up first.
Just collapse into the arms of grace.
Right now. As you are.
And if you’ve been following Jesus for a while and forgot that you were once the one—
Maybe it’s time to drop the clipboard, stop checking other people’s spiritual resumes, and join the Shepherd in His celebration.
Because He found you too.
Here’s the final word, and it’s the only one that matters:
It is finished.
Not halfway. Not conditionally. Not if you behave.
Finished.
You were lost.
He came.
Now you’re found.
Grace wins. Every time.
