D21 You’re Not Alone: Battling Spiritual Forces

More Than Flesh and Blood

Ephesians 6:12 “For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.”

Hey

I need to tell you something you may already feel in your bones but haven’t been able to name out loud:
You are under attack.

And I don’t mean by your schedule or your boss or your in-laws or your anxiety or a crazy neighbor.
I mean something deeper.
Something darker.
Something older than all of it.

The heaviness that hits you out of nowhere.
The shame that won’t loosen its grip, even after you’ve repented a thousand times.
The low-grade fear that hums beneath even your happiest moments.

These aren’t just mood swings. They’re strategies.

You’re not crazy.
You’re being targeted.

The Bible says our real battle isn’t against people—it’s against rulers, authorities, cosmic powers, and spiritual forces in the heavenly realms.

That’s not poetry. That’s war language.

The world isn’t neutral.
You’re not walking through a mall.
You’re walking through occupied territory.
You’re not driving on a freeway.
You’re driving through a war zone where the demonic and rebellious spirits plot and plan destruction and distraction.

And the enemy doesn’t just want to distract you—he wants to discourage you, disarm you, and then destroy you.
He wants you numb. Cynical. Isolated.
He wants you believing the lie that your thoughts are your own and that your struggle is just weakness.

But the truth?
There are intelligent, invisible beings—rebellious members of God’s divine council—who have declared war on the image of God in you.

They don’t come with pitchforks and goofy tights.
They come with accusations.
With perfectly timed lies wrapped around half truths.
With shame that feels spiritual and fear that feels rational.

Here’s the twist—
They’re already defeated.

The cross didn’t just cover your sin.
It crushed their dominion.
Colossians 2 says Jesus disarmed the rulers and authorities and put them to open shame, triumphing over them.

They can still whisper, but they’ve lost their authority.
They can still lie, but they can’t un-save you.

So what do you do?

You don’t run.
You don’t cower.
You don’t try harder.

You put on the armor that’s already yours.
You speak truth when lies press in.
You worship when the darkness feels thick.
You pray—not to inform God, but to invite His presence into the fight.

You remember that you’re not alone.
Not crazy.
Not weak.

You’re targeted because you’re chosen.
And you’re safe because you’re His.

Do Something

Take ten undistracted minutes today. Turn off the noise. Put your feet on the floor.

Pray this:
“Jesus, open my eyes to the battle I’ve been ignoring. Show me where I’ve confused spiritual warfare with personal failure. Fill me with Your power to stand. You are Lord over everything—seen and unseen. I trust You.”

You’re not fighting to win.
You’re fighting from a victory that’s already yours.

Hold the line.
You’re held by something stronger than darkness.
