Don’t Settle For Mediocrity

re·mark·a·ble – rəˈmärkəb(ə)l/adjective

     1. worthy of attention; striking.

I like this definition: worthy of attention; striking.
I have the privilege of spending time with remarkable people everyday, and so do you. The unfortunate reality is that most people do not realize how remarkable they are. They are stuck.
I see their strengths, their weaknesses, their fears, and their dreams. Often times, I see this before they do simply because I am looking and they are not.
Our culture has duped us to believe the way to a remarkable life is wrapped up in comfort, riches, trinkets, power, or fame; it just isn’t true. Being better at a task or having more trinkets than the person next to you is not the way to a remarkable life.
You are as unique and you are remarkable for a cosmic reason. Likewise, every person you encounter is unique and remarkable for a cosmic reason. The fingerprints of God are upon every life. God did not make a mistake when he made you. He did not make a error when he crafted the dreams and drive that are in your heart. I know, and you know, that you were made for more that what you’re currently living through.
So how do you move toward the remarkable life? The striking life? The life worthy of attention?
First ask yourself, “Am I walking on a path another person set me on or have I found the path that I was created by God to travel?” These are not mutually exclusive, but they are rarely the same path. The greatest mentors are not the ones who teach you how to walk down their path, but rather, the ones who help you discover your own.
I usually don’t have to say much to help people see their path. I just ask the questions that peel back calloused layers our culture has placed upon us and their dreams, their remarkability, does the rest. Big dreams are already crashing against the prison bars of mediocrity. So start here…
What are you currently doing that robs you of joy, inspiration, and drive to live well?
What have you always wanted to pursue but lacked the courage or know how to begin?
Be sure to like, comment, share. Let’s fight against mediocrity and strive toward remarkability together.
